1950's Fashion meets The WORLD

The 1950's had a very dramatic impact on the world. From Rosa parks not leaving her seat
in 1955, to eisenhower becoming president in 1953. With fighting with korea ending also in
1953, but also making the hydrogen bomb in 1950 for the air force for korea, this time was
also kind of a contradicting time. and who can forget the 2 lasts states we call now,
Alaska & Hawaii making The world became much larger. around 54' racial segregation
was ruled unconstitutional in public schools, which i feel made the best fashion impact out of all.
I can get into the whole polio vaccine in 55' but who like to read about that?

After WWII ended, art became very fresh and new and a whole entire great outlook on art was put in place.
buit one of the huge things in the 1950's were abstract expression. Abstract expressionism like Jackson Pollock , Barnett Newman , and Franz Kline received official recognition at the New York Museum of Modern Art.
Part of the 1950's boom in consumerism included housing. People could afford single family dwellings and suburbia was born. A small suburban community called Levittown was built by William Levitt for returning servicemen and their families.

During the fifties, American education underwent dramatic and, for some, world shattering changes. Until 1954, an official policy of "separate but equal " educational opportunities for blacks had been determined to be the correct method to insure that all children in America received an adequate and equal education in the public schools of the nation. In 1954, Chief Justice Earl Warren and other members of the Supreme Court wrote in Brown v. the Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas that separate facilities for blacks did not make those facilities equal according to the Constitution. Integration was begun across the nation. In 1956, Autherine J.Lucy successfully enrolled in the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. In 1957,Elizabeth Eckford was the first black teenager to enter then all-white Little Rock Central High School , Little Rock, Arkansas. Although integration took place quietly in most towns, the conflict at Central High School in Little Rock was the first of many confrontations in Arkansas which showed that public opinion on this issue was divided.

Families worked together, played together and vacationed together at family themed entertainment areas like national parks and the new Disneyland. Gender roles were strongly held, girls played with Barbie dolls and Dale Evans gear, boys with Roy Rogers and Davy Crockett paraphernalia. Drive-in movies became popular for families and teens. Cars were seen as an indicator of prosperity and cool-ness. Highways were built to take people quickly from one place to another, by-passing small towns and helping to create central marketing areas or shopping malls such as Sharpstown Mall, Gulfgate Mall and Meyerland Plaza in Houston.

When the 1950s are mentioned, the first type of music to come to most people's minds is rock 'n roll. Developed
from a blend of Southern blues and gospel music with an added strong back beat, this type of music was popular with teenagers who were trying to break out of the mainstream, conservative, American middle class mold. Popular artists such as Bill Haley, Elvis Presley, and Jerry Lee Lewis were promoted on radio by just as popular disc-jockeys (DJ's) like Alan Freed and the Big Bopper. The deaths of Lubbock singer Buddy Holly , Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper is still lamented by fans. The influence of these early rockers has been felt in popular music worldwide.

Now with such great & horrific things happening in the 1950's you can def say that the emotions they all had were were not struck into the fashion in the 50's. Menswear were very casual grey flannes suits, while the women had dresses pinched to the waist and high heels. Chanel & givenchy were def copied in american which i seem to think thats how american became more into fashion itself. Now after 1955 there was much fashion success. Take

Bill Blass and his blue jeans, poodle skirts made of felt and decorated with sequins and poodle appliques, pony tails for girls, and flat tops and crew cuts for guys. Saddle shoes and blue suede loafers were popular. Teenagers were defined as a separate generation and were represented by James Dean who wore blue jeans in Rebel Without a Cause and created a fashion and attitude sensation. Activities we liked were flying saucer watching , and watching and dancing to Dick Clark's American Bandstand . Fad hits with kids were toys like hula hoops and Hopalong Cassidy guns and western gear, Davy Crockett coon skin hats and silly putty .

These hot colors are shooting up from the 70's and 80's & with the Whole DIY vintage looks people are now going for, this trend is a easy yet fun way to be included in "world" of fashion. Don't worry, Im not telling yo to grab your mother vintage over sized blouse from back in the day, Its neon with a twist. Neons patches of shorts, the pop of neon in your scarf or handbag, or the cute neon peep sock screaming for attention out the hard punk boot is the perfect way to go this this season. Marc Jacobs, Furst of a kind, Raged priest, and many more have put this trend to the test and man, we are taking in this trend! If you like me and cannot afford such high priced neon garments, Try going to your nearest thrift town store, or vintage clothing and find cool sweater that you can tear and patch them on to your favorite pair of solid color shorts. Or maybe and a couple neon patches to a vintage leather jacket. This trend is DEF a must so be BOLD and go for it!!!

Some of us have come to understand what music can do to heal us. To cure the pain, the happiness, the hurt, the anger, the good & the bad. As we all believe that our own prescription of specific music medicine helps us through the times that we need it, wether its driving home from work, picking up your friends, taking a road trip down the 101, there's always that one tune, downbeat, vocal or lyric to turn over the emotion we try to overcome.

About a year ago, I recently dicovered a True music artist, & believer of Music medicine, The D.R. Either its fate or true greatness that his names represents the world of life & music, but i can honestly say that the D.R. has came into the world and has helped hundreds through the wild roller-coaster of conquering our emotions through music. the D.R. has came from Just a boy in Orange county, from knowing that his personality was far from different, to a pop star that wants nothing but to cure his "patients" with the medicine of great art & music. From wither Just a slight color change in his hair, or a lyric he wrote on a napkin at school, the D.R knew that for the rest of his life he wanted to be a entertainer, a man the creates new emotions with every vocal, every performance, & every word in his lyric journal that he has created. As time, locations and creativity changed within the D.R., his values of what he believes in has never changed, And his 1st album, Prescription was nothing short of just that. With songs titles like, Guillotine, Choke, & surgery, and lyrics that are true to heart, this pop Artist has made his way through the struggles of life by creating medicines and music potions that he wants nothing but to solely share with his "patients." With songs coming straight from his own RX pad, They all tell a story, combining metaphors with life situations that only his true patients can understand, and to me, its just utterly mind blowing.

Hearing his Great music through my ipod at the gym, or while driving down the central coast is one thing, but seeing the D.R perform musical surgeries, is out of this world. Wearing something far from a Doctors coat, This pop sensation's creativity and outer appearence is, well AMAZING. With retro Blue leathers, prison stripe blazers, waxed metallic pants, and the wigs that even rupaul would have to think twice about, the D.R. puts it all together to become one. From one event wearing current trends like American flag vintage and punk rock leather, to another where american classics meets "Dark-glam."Every show is one - a - kind, and a sight to see.

I recently discovered the the D.R. has a new single coming out Called " HEADLESS HORSEMAN."......... I KNOW, RIGHT? I am dying for another shot of the D.R.'s musical elixir, and in dyer need of some BAD ASS music blasting through my ipod headphones. The song hasn't released yet and I heard it will be sometime in March or April of this year. The Artwork for the single was released (below) and its one of those pictures where a thousand words just won't cut it. With the D.R.'s mastermind of outer and inner creativity, he always leads his patients venturing off into a whole other world. He gives us a new spin on fashion, music, and entertainment, and 2012 is all about crazy creativity.

Im happy to say that im secretly dying for this single to be released. Music is something that should have a connection between the artist and the viewer. the singer and the listener. It should be about creating love through music, and helping overcome there dreams and making them understand that music is life. The D.R lives and breathes for making his fans understand the true meaning of music and entertainment and this year i believe his has tricks up his sleeves to shoot us up with.

So i say forget the Army, slay the millions of lil' monsters coming from under your bed, and become a patient of the D.R that's about to become head surgeon of the hospital of Entertainment...

Brought my Styling Skills to the world of Advertisement!

So recently Everyone had butt fuck finals. Luckily my over the top, Dramatic and hetic Styling class finals were to put together a Advertisment. We had to basically choose a Brand that was totally laggin on magazine spreads, billboards, etc, and turn it out! MY first choice was to do Hanes, DUH, hot naked men in undies???? But, i decided to be not so gay and choose something more lifestlye, more Bay area. I Chose New Era Hats. Now me knowing hardly anything about the fitted billed baseball caps, I called my "boy"Friends and franticly asked them questions. After Fliriting with a bunch of staright men on the phone, I decided that it was time to fornicate something close to home. Something Urban, hip, simple but stricking, Fun and collective. Something that i hardly do, but its advertisement, stylist never get a say! I pulled from some vintage stores, got some hats from friends and took my merry ass to dolores park barketballs courts to have a more lifestyle action shot!

Then skipped down to the Alley way where graffiti meets earth and ended the shoot with a more fun hip urban type shoot and boy did i rock the shit out of it!! Check out some of the pics and tell me that you think!!!!

Her "Art-Vision" & her Nikon are in-synced with each other like Lady & the tramp, A gay & his Chapstick, the classic peanut butter & Jelly. She has started snapping her vision when she was 15 years old, and to this day her eye for photography is as strong and beautiful as, well... ME! Chantel Brings out the true, corky, weird, beautiful, fierce, but TRUE talent out of whatever she's shooting. I worked with her in several occasions, and when her eye hits that camera, its like a whole different world has ventured around us, and nothing else matters. From back drops, to Scenery, she Takes it to the next level of true Greatness. With Chantel being very motivated and talented at the work she does, It amazes me to see how a real, true, and honest photographer works. By her being Bay Area bound, I have seen SF, Oakland, And many other cities in a whole new dimension. According to all the buzz over the media and internet, Marc Jacobs’ entire spring/ summer 2012 collection was stolen from a train in France, according the American designer’s public relations.

The collection included 46 looks, likely slated for editorial use. Fashion critics are grumbling that these sought-after samples are likely headed toward the laps of counterfeiters and makers of second-hand knockoffs.

Now with so much he say she say going on in this unfortunate situation, Im now thinking that someone may not be telling the Truth..

Especially in san Francisco its Freezing and Feet get cold when your strutting a sleek pump or stiletto. But Ive noticed that Few women actually like this trend? So i wonder, is it comfy? After walking around in 4" pumps with a pair or polka dot socks, I didn't like it so much, or without it is a lot better. BUT it is very stylish for the fall, and hey if socks don't work try crazy printed leggings, they work just as well, if not better! SO I say yes, turn your boring work pump into a wild safari, ora Christmas carol with cool funky socks or leggings!

We have been seeing a lot of Grandma sweaters Slowly creeping up on the streets for women, but not for us men, UNTIL NOW.

Necks are coming in full force for the fall. Be cozy & stylish with odd colors and over sized top gear! You can grab This good ol' trend from Hermes, Versace, Missoni, or maybe in your Dads/Grampy's Closet or even better THRIFT TOWN (orgasmic-con).

SHOE TREND REPORT FOR FALL 2011/2012

These are my FAVORITE Shoes trends & are the Must see in my category . I am going to say were heading back to the 60's this fall with color and fabrics!

What I mean by 60's, is that BRIGHT COLORS like Electric Blue, Apache Green, & Ravishing purples, are all stepping game to the streets, and

with a double looks with every step from your classmate or co worker... Y NOT???

SUEDE! Its creeping up on us and finally made its real statement this fall. Neutral colors mostly but we have been seeing christian louboutin do some far fetched color suede that i think is to die for. In addition Diane von Furstenberg Has this on point 100% and she has many collections to choose from so get at her stat!

Another hit thats stomping the runway & streets are reptile skin. Many designers chose The snake skin over most, but im still seeing Crocodile leather but I really just hope its dies away. Balenciaga, Micheal Kors, and Chloe have the perfect mindset for this pump so check em outzz!

So there has been some hush about Marc Jacobs being the new Designer for Chritian Dior.... OMG YES, I feel that would just be abso amazing right???

Carine Roitfeld thinks Marc Jacobs could well be the right man for the Dior job. and so do I!

Ok, so Marc and Louis Vuitton maybe just alright, but this is the first time Marc will be doing couture and that would/could be amazing!

As the "rumors" are being around the world, Marc says that he's Abso happy at LVHM and the 12 years he has given them.

I will make sure not to miss a FREAKING SHOW if he does become the designer, but who knows! Marc Jacobs is a fab Icon and wherever he land, i know i will follow!

They got another High designer and Made a baby.. "Night at the Roxbury" by Versace.

First I feel like Versace Def didn't need to make a baby with H&M, because well, DUHHHH its Versace... Their Fall/Winter Collection I feel IS AMAZING and will do very well.

SO LF Boutique has been around for some years I must say..

In southern Cali they are considered a "eh" kinda store but here in nor cal, Hardly anyone knows about it.

One reason mainly because there is only 1 store,and 2 because they don't advertise ANYTHING

It doesn't make any since to me how they sell Flannels or 168 but no one buys them because NO ONES eve knows they exist in san francisco. Again, JUST SAYIN' but SF wants trends and People just need to make a effort putting themselves out there.

2 of my closet friends works there and they both love and adore every piece of clothing/AMAZING shoe game as much as I do.

Jeffrey Campbell is a Growing shoe designer that Every Fashionista girl wants to strap on. his design or should i say inspiration is amazing, Prices are very reasonable and Lets face it, every girl needs a nice shoe fetish in SF!

But lets get real! Every shoe that i have seen him make has been a mock of some other shoe which makes me wonder a lot. I know fashion repeats itself but Where do we branch off from that? Where do our own imagination come to blossom?
